The effect of an electronic health record system on nursing staff time in a nursing home: a longitudinal cohort study |
The introduction of an EHR system in a nursing home can improve documentation practice for nursing staff, and may not disrupt their caring duty. However, maintaining the positive change can be a challenge. To effectively support collaborative nursing care in a nursing home, designers of EHR systems must incorporate functions into the system to support point-of-care documentation and real-time exchange of care information. Melanoma: A new strategy to reduce morbidity and mortality |
Known risk factors for malignant melanoma include increased naevus numbers and family history of melanoma. It is not known, however, if public awareness campaigns highlighting these facts or targeted skin screening based on these risk factors could result in earlier detection of melanoma. This study determined that many patients with these risk factors would have had their melanomas detected earlier had they known their risk was higher than that of the general population. Impact of community pharmacy-based educational intervention on patients with hypertension in Western Nepal |
As lifestyle modifications and other non-pharmacological approaches play an important role in controlling blood pressure, educating patients about these factors is of paramount importance. This study shares the positive impact and success of a community pharmacy-based educational intervention on knowledge, practice, and disease management of patients with hypertension in Nepal. If community pharmacists ran a long-term chronic diseases management program, it would reduce pressure on a healthcare system and promote quality pharmaceutical service in low resource settings. Can physiotherapists contribute to care in the emergency department? |
In recent years, physiotherapists have begun to practice in Australia’s emergency departments (EDs) as autonomous, primary contact clinicians responsible for many duties traditionally solely within the domain of the medical profession. This has caused controversy and raises important questions: Do physiotherapists deliver quality care in the ED? Has the introduction of physiotherapists to ED improved service delivery as intended? Follicular Bronchiolitis in Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia |
Primary ciliary dyskinesia is rarely associated with bronchiolitis and the histopathology has been noted to be diffuse bronchiolitis in nature. In patients with bronchiectasis of unknown aetiology, the presence of follicular bronchiolitis, while not specific, may be associated with PCD. This case report may urge clinician scientists to attempt to identify histological patterns of bronchiolitis in PCD cohorts and study the distribution in the population so as to shed more light on this newly reported association.
