BRIEF REPORT

Design of a new non-sterile glove-dispensing unit

Even though healthcare providers sterilize their hands through hand washing prior to touching medical equipment and patients, bacteria can still be present. This report presents a unique glove box design that aims to reduce contamination. It reduces physical contact with the gloves, which may potentially reduce the risk of nosocomial infections.

Transient adrenal Insufficiency and post-treatment bradycardia in scrub typhus - a case report

Scrub typhus is an infection that affects multiple systems in the body. Transient adrenal failure may be a rare and treatable complication of scrub typhus. Patients with scrub typhus should be monitored carefully for hypotension or postural drop, and given an ACTH stimulation test where needed, so that adrenal failure can be recognised early and treated.

Bilateral Schizencephaly Type II

Schizencephaly is a severe form of neuronal migration defects and is an extremely rare cause of seizure disorder. The case study reports bilateral schizencephaly (Type II), which is generally associated with severe cognitive and/or motor problems. In this instance, however, development was normal, which suggests that the severity of cognitive and motor deficit may not be directly proportionate to the extent of anatomical defect.
