Validation of the Thai QOL-AD version in Alzheimer's patients and caregivers

The Quality of Life-Alzheimer’s Disease (QOL-AD) scale measures quality of life for patients diagnosed with the disease. The QOL-AD has been translated into several languages. For this study it was translated into Thai and tested with patients and their caregivers. The researchers concluded that the psychometric property, especially the reliability of a Thai QOL-AD version is good, but the validity in the caregiver group is still of concern.

Isolated Hepatic Tuberculosis: an uncommon presentation of a common entity.

Isolated hepatic tuberculosis is rare. Tuberculosis should be suspected in endemic areas as a cause of unexplained liver failure. Early suspicion can ensure early diagnosis and successful treatment with appropriate antimicrobials.

An Unusual Right Popliteal Vein Aneurysm in an Adult: A Case Report

Popliteal vein aneurysms (PVA) may be potentially life threatening, as they can be a source of pulmonary embolism. Researchers observed a large and saccular popliteal vein aneurysm in the right inferior extremity of a cadaver, which is extremely rare. This case report explains the variability in the existence of the PVA and stresses the use of non-invasive diagnostic methods like ultrasound, CT, and MRI to detect the otherwise unnoticed aneurysms, and to plan the treatment regime accordingly. They should also be considered during different surgical interventions in the popliteal region.
