Magnesium sulphate versus Phenytoin in eclampsia - Maternal and Foetal outcome – A comparative study

In low and middle income countries, with a high incidence of eclampsia and other emergencies the concept of earlier delivery, decreased rate of Caesarean delivery, increased bed turn-over and lower cost of therapy with phenytoin has practical and cost implications. Hence, in resource poor situations, and in patients with a lesser severity of disease  the option of using phenytoin should be reconsideration.

Pattern of injury in fatal road traffic accidents in a rural area of western Maharashtra, India

The majority of trauma victims who died sustained a head injury. These data suggest that most of the deaths in road traffic accidents, brought to a tertiary care rural hospital, took place either on the spot or within 24 hours of injury. Authors conclude that this highlights the need for urgent steps to establish good pre-hospital care and the provision of trauma services on site.

Nepal is a landlocked developing country in south Asia, with China to the north and India surrounding all its other sides. To date, new drug development processes and clinical trials are not being conducted in Nepal. The genetic variations among the population of Nepal are likely to produce more distinct effects than those observed among people involved in on-going clinical trials.
