Medical Students Envisage a Healthy Future |
Every human being on the planet has the right to basic nutrition and health. Yet, the United Nations estimates that as many as 963 million people in the world are undernourished. A combination of economic and geographical factors conspires to deprive people of sustainable access to safe, nutritious, and palatable food. Consequently, a substantial and increasing proportion of the population is denied health and therefore cannot hope to live productive lives.

Adolescent Mental Health in Rural Australia. |
Up to 20% of Australian adolescents experience mental health problems. Prior research has suggested that inhabitants of rural areas are at particular risk of mental health morbidity due to their location. The current study sought to investigate how ‘rurality’ influences the mental health of adolescents in rural South Australia, and to explore the perceptions of the mental health needs of adolescents as described by service providers in rural South Australia.

REVIEW |
Comparative Healthcare: Mental Health |
Mental illness poses the greatest challenge in health care as national investment in services often reflects cultural attitudes and norms. While the authors describe very similar approaches to the diagnosis and management of severe psychotic illness in Bangladesh and the UK there are striking differences in the availability of support services for people with substance abuse and those with relapsing conditions.
