Atrial fibrillation (AF) management is becoming increasingly complex. Targeted interventions are needed to better support Australian physicians in managing AF patients with cognitive or functional impairments, and those AF patients who are non-adherent to therapy.

Doctor stress and burnout in after hours house calls
 

Physician burnout effects healthcare delivery adversely. Little is known about causes of burnout for doctors who perform after-hours house calls (AHHC). This study found that adopting protective measures and attaining postgraduate fellowships are associated with reduced burnout in AHHC.

Pay-for-performance is popular in many countries as a tool for managing the complex balance of healthcare costs, quality and outcomes. There is little evidence of its effectiveness, however, and many reasons to regard it as a poor strategy.
