UCBC: A diagnostic test for early onset neonatal sepsis
 

Umbilical cord blood culture (UCBC) can be a useful diagnostic test for early onset neonatal sepsis (EONS), especially for neonates who were given prophylactic antibiotic before collection of blood for culture.

Screening immune system function in at-risk newborns
 

A program for detecting compromised immune system for the neonate at birth may reduce the incidence of health problems. This review assesses the practicality of screening newborns for impaired immune system. Given that immunological mediated diseases in adulthood emerge during postnatal life, such a program may prove cost effective long term.

This case report highlights the identification process of small bowel sarcomas (SBS), which can help the surgeon identify the type of tumour present. Resection with adequate margins is required with omentectomy to reduce the chance of recurrence.
